Quiz masterminds take the Tinny Shed by storm!
Scroll through the photos above
On April 16th, we spent a very enjoyable evening testing our general knowledge with local masterminds. Our quiz and raffle were run in aid of the Cork City Missing Persons Search and Recovery, a very worthy and local cause.
Many thanks to all quizzers and supporters who made the night a great success, including members of the Cork City Missing Persons group, and a special thank you to The Tinny Shed at St. Columba's Hall who generously offered the venue without fee for our event.
Not only did the winning team finish with a strong lead on the scoreboard, they also generously donated their winnings for our cause.
Warmer Homes and Brighter Futures in Douglas
In this video:
> Gerry Hogan, Lion House resident,
> Liam Moloney, Douglas and District Lions Club member who manages Lion House and
> Jason Collins, Technical Director, SE Systems
Hear the story of how 20 homes, including 18 apartments at Lion House and 2 terrace homes on Douglas West, were transformed through deep energy upgrades with SE Systems.
Average BER ratings jumped from E1 to A1, and residents now enjoy modern, efficient, and controllable heating systems.
Thanks to the SEAI Community Energy Grant and the SE Systems Community Fund, a 95% funded complete one-stop-shop solution was delivered:
> Attic Insulation
> Air to Air and Air to Water Heat Pumps
> New Windows and Doors
> Cavity Wall Insulation
> Rooftop Solar PV.
Most importantly, all works were carried out with care, respect, and minimal disruption to residents.

Christmas Food Appeal 2025
Douglas & District Lions Club will be holding their Annual Christmas Food Appeal Collections, outside Dunnes Stores in Douglas Court Shopping Centre and at Ryan's SuperValu in Grange, from Thursday 4th December 2025 to Sunday 7th December 2025 inclusive.
All donations will be most gratefully received. A card machine will be available, and all donations will be used to purchase food vouchers.
Thank you!
The Club members along with their many volunteer Collectors give their time over four days collecting at the shopping centres and arrange for the distribution of the food hampers and food vouchers a week before Christmas.
Our thanks go to the management of both Douglas Court Shopping Centre and Ryan's SuperValu Grange, the Douglas Post and the Priests of the parish who advertise the appeal and of course to our many volunteer Collectors who make all this possible. The club appreciates the huge community effort each year, and that for the many deserving families in the community in which we serve, Christmas is more cheerful as a result of the Christmas Food Appeal.
